To Grandfather:  In Memory of a Kitemaker

(10/04/98)

 by: M.V. Briones

Pass through the darkness

To reach the light

Each day is preceded

By the night.

Neither too late in tarrying

Nor a step too early,

Each single step is taken

Towards immortality

Like the ones before us

Name after name

We all return to

From where we came

And with each glorious reunion

At eternity

A Creator rejoices

And all of heaven, in revelry!

What man has lost

The spirit gains;

The body withers,

The soul remains.

What he has been robbed of

He soon shall be paid.

How soon enough, though,

No one can say.

Like the ones before us

And the ones to come after

The blueprint of life

Is a cycle of forever.

Fear not the darkness :

The light is there, waiting . . .

Fear not the dying :

For then, begins the living!
